Background

CERM3 has opened a laboratory in collaboration with the IRES group lead by Les Lavkulich to provide environmental analytical services. Situated in the Soil Sciences laboratories in the MacMillan Building, a new low-resolution ISP has been installed to support soil, rock and water assays. Additional equipment in CERM3's Environmental Quality Laboratory includes a Leco sulfur analyser, a mercury hydride generator and a selenium analyser. Together with the Pacific Centre for Isotopic and Geochemical Research lead by Jim Mortensen and Domique Weis of Earth and Ocean Sciences, CERM3 has helped to establish one of the finest analytical facilities in western Canada to support environmental research.
